THE COST OF RODENT PRESSURE ON THE FARM
A single pair of rats can produce a colony of more than a thousand in a year. On agricultural sites, that population finds exactly what it needs: continuous feed, dense cover, and hundreds of linear feet of chewable surface running through equipment, conduit, and irrigation.
Traditional programs lean on rodenticides — which introduce secondary poisoning risk to barn cats, raptors, and livestock guardian dogs, and leave carcasses to locate inside walls and machinery. DETOUR® works differently. Grain Storage, Bins & Handling Equipment
Rodents enter bins through auger housings, aeration ports, and door gaskets, then nest in the commodity.
The loss isn’t what they eat — it’s contamination by urine and droppings, which triggers dockage or rejection under food-safety audit. Chewed gaskets also break the moisture seal.
Treat the entry pathways, not the grain. Run a continuous bead around bin door frames, aeration fan housings, auger joints, and wall penetrations.

Barns, Feed Rooms & Livestock Housing
Feed rooms offer food, water, warmth, and bedding in one place. Populations establish fast and resist reduction once nesting starts inside walls and hay.
Beyond feed loss, rodents move pathogens through housing and chew waterer and auger wiring. And rodenticide around barns creates secondary poisoning exposure for the barn cats, working dogs, and raptors already doing control work on your property.

A heated greenhouse in January is the most attractive structure on the property. Rodents come for warmth, stay for seed trays, and sever young transplants at the base.
They also chew heating tube, bench wiring, and irrigation line in a space with very limited chemical options — anything applied has to suit a controlled growing environment and, often, certification requirements on the crop.
The formula is eco-friendly and food-grade, suited to sensitive growing environments where broadcast rodenticide is a non-starter.
Treat the perimeter first: door thresholds, roll-up sidewall channels, fan and louver housings, and the glazing-to-baseboard gap. Then bench legs and heating runs.

Outbuildings, Well Heads & Electrical Panels
Pump houses, well head enclosures, generator sheds, and service panels sit unvisited for months — dry, enclosed, and warm when equipment cycles.
Damage is disproportionate to the structure’s size. A nest in a control panel shorts the well pump mid-season. Chewed generator wiring surfaces during the outage it was bought for. First symptom is usually total failure.
Treat the few penetrations that matter: conduit entries, cable glands, vent screens, door sweeps, and the base plate at the pad.
