HOW CAPSAICIN WORKS
The Reaction
Capsaicin is the compound that makes peppers like Chilis, Habanero, Ghost Peppers, etc. feel “spicy” by activating heat and pain receptors in animals and mammals upon contact. When a rat or mouse encounters DETOUR®, the capsaicin-based gel clings to their fur, skin, paws, and mouths. Absorbing through direct contact, triggering an immediate and instinctive aversion to the treated area that’s reinforced through learned behavior.
The Formula
The patented formula suspends pharmaceutical grade capsaicin in a stable, weather resistant, and long-lasting matrix – preventing degradation and keeping DETOUR® effective for 6-12 months. The formulation is eco-friendly and made with all food grade components. Allowing confidence for use in food preparation areas and posing no toxicological risk to humans or non-target species, all while ensuring maximum efficacy.
